Coffee Mornings (February 2003 Magazine)

The St. John's Coffee Mornings are held in the Parochial Hall on the third Wednesday in each month, with the exception of December, commencing at 10.00 p.m.
Each year we request volunteers to host a Coffee Morning (this involves providing refreshments). A list is appended to the notice board in the Church porch and it would be appreciated if anyone wishing to host a Coffee Morning would add their name/s to the list indicating the month of their choice.

Guide Dogs for the Blind (January 2002 Magazine)

We are currently collecting used stamps which can be used towards the cost of training Guide Dogs for the Blind. Please will everyone save their used stamps, especially during the Christmas period, bring them to Church and hand them to Jean Lawson or just leave them on top of the cupboard at the back of Church.

Altar Flowers (January 2002 Magazine)

The Flower Arranging Team would like to thank all those who have given donations for Altar flowers during the last year and also those who have given silk flowers towards arrangements at other times. Without your help we would be unable to keep our Church looking beautiful.

The Altar Flower List for 2003 is now on the notice board and may we once again appeal for your continued support.

Church Cleaning (January 2002 Magazine)

The Church cleaning team has suffered a setback through illness and is already struggling for numbers, Jean having to clean on her own on occasions.
We are seeking helpers for a massive 11/2 hours per month! Surely you can spare this amount of time to do a bit of light cleaning?
Without your help the Church will remain uncleaned. Nobody wishes to see this happen so please come forward and give your name to Jean. Arrangements will, wherever possible, be made to arrange the cleaning rota on days to suit the volunteers.

Auction of Talents (December 2002 Magazine)

Some of you may remember that during the Interregnum we ran an 'Auction of Talents'. The Methodists also run one every year. Basically offers are made of 'Talents' - such as baking cakes, painting pictures, mowing lawns & other gardening jobs, knitting jumpers, offering day trips, joinery, car maintenance - in fact any service that you may feel someone else might be willing to pay for. A, hopefully large, notice is then made of the 'Talents' on offer and others write down their bids - what money they are prepared to offer - the highest bid for any 'Talent' wins.
To be honest, the last time we ran the Auction, it wasn't particularly successful - partly due to the lack of a reasonable number of 'Talents' on offer. This time I would be grateful if those willing to offer 'Talents' could contact me and let me know what they are willing to offer - if we get enough offers, I'll draw up a poster.

Way Warden Scheme (January 2002 Magazine)

Following the invitation to Way Wardens some 20 Wardens attended the meeting on 12th November.
Views on the working arrangements were exchanged and "feedback" proved very informative.
Whilst most areas are covered by Wardens the following are not as yet involved:-
ELMETE WAY - HARLOW COURT - LAKEVIEW COURT
MONTAGU GROVE - OAKWOOD AVENUE - OAKWOOD DRIVE
OAKWOOD PLACE - OAKWOOD GROVE
If you live in one of these areas we need your help to provide this Good Neighbour service. The time involved is minimal.
PLEASE CONTACT the Vicar on 266 9747 or Reverend Tim Morris on 265 8093 if you are prepared to help or if you need more information.
