Review of last half term Our harvest celebrations and the Shoe Box appeal for Albania were a highlight of last half term. Thank you for all your support. The boxes will be sorted this week and then will begin their long journey to Albania at the beginning of next week. Year 6 have enjoyed a series of lessons from Phoenix Dance. At the end of the course they gave a stunning presentation to the rest of the school of a dance they had prepared as a whole class. In addition year 6 also did some fieldwork in Roundhay Park in connection with their Geography topic on rivers. Skipping has been given a new lease of life following another workshop and demonstration. It's great to see boys and girls alike showing such a range of skills here. School Photos (individual and families) These are this Friday. Families wanting to have pre-school children with school children should come at 8.30 a.m. please. Children will only be photographed with brothers and sisters unless you send the class teacher a note requesting an individual photo as well. Walk to School We had a wonderful response on International Walk to School Day. Approximately 40 children walked with the Bus and another 65 children also walked that day so we had 105 names chalked on the playground. The official statistics that follow an annual census on school journeys throughout Yorkshire and Humberside, show that we have an increasing number of children walking regularly to school. However, we still fall behind the regional average, so we want to continue our efforts. We would love to start a second walking bus from the Asket Hill area. Would this help you? Further details will follow shortly. Our current walking bus is now almost full. Parent Helpers Thank you to all those parents who have continued to support us within the school day. The Governors have confirmed that all parent helpers must be criminally vetted before starting to work in school. However, the vetting process seems to be working faster now. We want to invite any parents who either currently help in school, or

Pupil Details Returns You will have noticed from the letters that requested information on ethnicity and pupil data records, that these came out later than we intended. This was due to the late delivery of the accompanying leaflets. Please return these sheets to school by the end of this week if at all possible. Book Fair We have organised another Scholastic Book Fair for next month. It will
be open straight after school on: Prayer Group A group meets regularly to pray for the school. All are welcome including
pre-school children. We plan to meet on Wednesday 13th November and Wednesday
4th December 1.45 p.m. to 2.45 p.m. at 21 Oakwell Mount. May we remind you that medicine should be brought to the office by parents so that you can sign to authorise our giving it. We are only able to dispense prescribed medicines. If your child has an inhaler, this should be labelled with his/her name and given by you to the class teacher to keep safely in the stock room. Only in exceptional and agreed situations can a child keep an inhaler or medicine themselves during the school day. Safe Parking Please help us to keep the area around school as well as our grounds safe by parking only in designated places. The bay just inside the school gates is for dropping off only. With the exception of the disabled, cars should not be parked there. Annual Festival of Bulb Planting The Friends of Roundhay Park invite you to join them in this annual event on Saturday 2nd November. Please meet them at the main gates of the park at 10.00 a.m. and help them with the planting of 10,000 bulbs in the park. Children should be accompanied by parents. Please take garden tools if possible, but some will be available on the day. |
